Meridian Center for Personal and Environmental Health Grand Opening, 1990 in Santa Monica CA
Here is an old video from 1994 of our old award winning Meridian Center for Personal and Environmental Health – one of the first non-toxic, beyond green clinics of its kind, created in 1990. If you were associated with us in any way take a look at this video. You never know you might be in it! Let us know what you think.
This cover photo is the Grand Opening in 1990 where we were honored to host over 400 amazing friends, colleagues and patients. The organic produce was contributed by local farmers and Ann Gentry (now of Real Foods Daily) and Debra Singletary, among others, provided the delicious wholesome food. Organic wines were donated by Broadway Deli.
John Cassese, the Dance Doctor, and partner provided the amazing Tango entertainment, Melissa Bickerton sang an inspirational song while Dennis Zane, the Mayor of Santa Monica, and Roy Martina, MD, cut the opening ribbon.
The event was held in the courtyard of Pacific Court, 1411 5th St, Santa Monica, California.
This award winning non-toxic Holistic Health Center was featured at the Chicago Symposium for Healthcare Design way back in 1993 as the token Green clinic of its day. Invited by Wayne Ruga, the clinic was billed as “(ECO) Design: Creating Extraordinary Outcomes”.
Dr Susan Lange, OMD, L.Ac presented the Meridian Center for Personal and Environmental Health, along with the founder of the Institute of Bau-biologie, German Architect, Helmut Ziehe – who was our valued adviser, and KPFK radio producer, Flavia Potenza, now Editor-in-Chief of the Topanga Messenger.
This video is the result.
The Meridian Center was also featured as an “Ideal Clinic” in the Alternative Medicine Digest. Many of the wonderful people who contributed to the success of this non-toxic clinic can be seen in the video – including Helmut Ziehe.
The Grand Opening in October 1990 was sponsored by Apex Energetics, Armand & Annette Simonian, Dennis Zane, the Mayor of Santa Monica, and Dr. Roy Martina presided at the opening – and over 400 people came to celebrate!
Acupuncturists Julian and Susan Lange (also biodynamic craniosacral therapy & pre & peri natal birth trauma healing) & Richard Grossman, and Mary Cordaro, Bau-biologie Consultant, were all present in the early days of the Meridian Center. Later on we see Acupuncturists, Diane Black (craniosacral therapist also) & Danise Lehrer, Homeopath Murray Clarke, along with Osteopath, Rumi Lakha, massage therapists Joyce Gass and Ellie Josephs, & Feng Shui & Bau-biologie consultant, Katherine Metz.
Other experts that we are proud to have been in association with were Dr Michael Galitzer, Dr Janet Hranicky, Dr. Hans Gruenn and Dr. Marcy Goldstein, Geoffrey Pfeiffer, Naturopath, Peter Sierck, of Environmental Testing & Technology and Dennis Higgins, water specialist.
We are so grateful to all our mutual patients who believed in us and supported our message and also we thank our staff for their dedication and hard work helping the doctors and patients at the Meridian Center for Personal and Environmental Health to feel supported and comfortable: Ruth Martinez, Mary Rios, Phyllis Kaplan, Jeanette Oki, Sarah Staley, Shar Kanan and of course Beverly Hinkey who is still with us at over 80 years old!
Our thanks also go to Dana Ross, for photography, Ben Swets for photography and video, Brenda Berkley for flowers, Dr. Nadia Lawrence for the Chinese music, Flavia Potenza for the interviews, and our landlords, Norman Cohen and Lynda Vance – without whom none of this would have been possible.
We are grateful to all of you for your huge contributions to our vision! Many blessings to you all.
The entire event was held in the courtyard of Pacific Court, 1411 5th St, Santa Monica, CA – with big thanks to Norman Cohen and Lynda Vance.
